Investment foundations, the LBO Guarantee Fund Foundation and the Substitute Occupational Benefit Institution are subject to direct OPSC supervision. A core element of OPSC supervisory activities is verifying compliance of these institutions with legal requirements.

Investment foundations
Investment foundations are vehicles for the collective investment and management of pension capital. They are subject to supervision by the OPSC. The scope of OPSC supervisory activities includes the review of investment foundations’ statutes, regulations and annual reports.
Substitute Occupational Benefit Institution
The Substitute Occupational Benefit Institution is a national occupational benefits scheme. It acts on behalf of the Federal Government as a 2nd pillar fallback and safety net. It is the only benefits scheme in Switzerland that accepts all employers and individuals wishing to join, provided they meet the legal requirements.
Stiftung Sicherheitsfonds BVG
Die Stiftung Sicherheitsfonds BVG ist eine nationale Einrichtung der beruflichen Vorsorge. Ihr Hauptzweck ist die Absicherung der Vorsorgeguthaben im Insolvenzfall von Vorsorgeeinrichtungen.
Systemaufsicht
Die OAK BV sorgt für eine einheitliche Aufsichtspraxis im System der beruflichen Vorsorge. Sie beaufsichtigt die kantonalen und regionalen Aufsichtsbehörden. Zudem erhebt sie jährlich schweizweit Kennzahlen zur finanziellen Lage der Vorsorgeeinrichtungen und zeigt den Reformbedarf für die Weiterentwicklung des Systems auf.
