Accreditation as pension actuary

Anyone wishing to work as pension actuaries must apply to the OPSC for accreditation. Accreditation can be applied for as a natural person (unlimited accreditation) and as a legal entity (limited accreditation). To do so, they must submit an application form along with all the relevant documents. The Commission makes an accreditation decision on the basis of the documents submitted. Once has been granted, the expert is added to the list of accredited pension actuaries.

Continuing professional development for pension actuaries

In accordance with Directive D-01/2012 “Accreditation of pension actuaries”, all persons in the profession are required to pursue continuing professional development.
On behalf of the SCPE, the Swiss Association of Actuaries (SAA) provides an online recording tool in which accredited pension actuaries can enter their CPD activities. All SAA members receive their own personal login at http://www.actuaries.ch. Members of the SCPE and the SAA’s Actuaries section already use this system to record their CPD activities. In future, this data will also be taken into account by the OPSC, which has adopted the same requirements as the SCPE for the recording and assessment of CPD activities. Accredited pension actuaries who are not SAA members will be given access to the online recording tool on request: to meet the CPD requirements, all their continuing professional development activities must be recorded in this tool. The SCPA may charge non-members a fee for this. To gain access to the online recording tool, please contact the Swiss Association of Actuaries c/o Swiss Re, Mythenquai 50/60, 8022 Zurich, tel. +41 43 285 26 81, sekretariat(at)actuaries.ch.
